The Gory Details
Dear Abby!!
I don't know what to do with myself. Here's why: I am a detail-oriented person and not everyone sees what I see, or cares about the same things that I care about. Today I accompanied my daughter's class to Science World and my buttons got pushed all day by a kid that wasn't mine. Though it explains why I'm at my wits end and more sensitive today, it really has nothing to do with my "details issue."
With that history in mind, I have to say that I am absolutely exasperated by the lack of attention to details around my house (at the moment). The smallest task don't seem to be done right (my opinion) or taken care of at all. If I wanted things done "right" I would spend my time tidying up after other people, thus resenting them even more. I DON'T WANT TO FEEL THIS WAY! I cannot change the people around me... I happen to like them. So What Can I Do To Change Who I AM??? I am desperate here. I want to be happy. I don't want to be the Drill Sergeant - how did this happen? I don't want to be miserable. I didn't ask God to make me a Details Person and I am becoming absolutely resentful of it. I'm hating who I am because I find that I am constantly annoyed with the people around me,and when you are always annoyed with people, it's really hard to like them - these are the people I love!
What can I do??? I am asking for advice here.)

"...the mundane and the holy are inextricably linked." - The Cloister Walk
So many things to do... Do I want to do them? Not really. Christmas decorations need to be taken down since the Season to Be Jolly is over - back to being our cranky selves! Hopefully not. Though taking down the decorations is enough to put anyone in a mood. LOL. Maybe we should create some sort of tradition that addresses taking-down-of-decorations and feeds us even more treats and tasty drinks.
Time is flying by... Where did 2005 go? What did we do? I guess these are things to ponder. I moved into a much much nicer house - got to like that. But other than that, this year is a blur, an absolute blur. I guess that my life was just filled with mundane but pleasant things. Waking up in the morning, showering and getting ready, eating breakfast (something that I've really embraced this year for the first time in my life), getting the wee one off to school, going to work four out of five (weekends don't count - we make the unfortunate mistake of living for them), picking up the W.O. from school, doing some reading, making dinner, watching TV, hanging out with friends and going to bed - some 365 days a year... give or take... (well, not give). These are the child-rearing years. And then they leave and we wonder why older married couples get "empty nest."
Time to enjoy the moment, the mundane, the melodrama of everyday living.

Object to Rest!
The sounds of a house winding down after the first day back to school and work... checking voice mail... nothing important... got to remember to call back that lady for elections to let her know that I'm not able to do that particular job... I am however working the day of the elections... this will be the third time... it pays quite well, for one tedious long day and a sore buttocks... so if anyone's interested I could give you the info... Ken and I are going to go for a walk in a few minutes here... at least that's what I've led myself to believe... but if we hang around of these here computers we'll lull ourselves into a sense of not-having-to-go-ness... it's not a word, but I'm sure you know what I mean... It's not a new year's resolution either... though I think it may be my new year's resolution two years ago that I'm just getting around to... again... just picking up where I left off... trying to get up the -insert question mark here- what exactly it is that holds us back from physical exercise? I always think of that phrase, "An object in motion tends to stay in motion; an object at rest tends to stay at rest." I am that object at rest and there I tend to stay. It takes an amazing amount of energy to get this lard ass up to speed! even the few times that I've managed to start I peter out within a few months... what's wrong with me? and at least half of North America? (LOL)
We should go soon...
