It's been a few days since I updated. Sorry, guy(s).
I guess the most eventful thing that has happened in my life of late is that every morning for the last four mornings I have awakened with one or both of my eyes glued shut. How nice is that? I remember having this when I was a kid. I wonder what it is.
Let me see... other eventful things of late... hummmmm. We played music in the park on Sunday, mainly for squirrels, however there were a few people that came along and seemed to enjoy it.
Before we played I was talking to Chris Janzen of "Long to Know You" fame. I just love talking to that guy. He's so down to earth about music and his career; he just seems to know so much about The (Foreboding) Industry and he's been around the block a few more times than I. It was really great to talk to him... then he said that he was hoping to be able to stick around and hear some of our songs, that's when I got a little nervous. I think that it's really a respect thing. He is such a good performer; he just comes alive when he's on the stage. I do wish to become more like that - alive on stage, I mean.
Just to put in a plug for a friend and fellow artist - He has written some great songs lately and they'll becoming out on his new CD very soon. I highly recommend that you check it out!
My CD on the other hand.... well, we'll see. If you love me, just buy one for posterity's sake. Not that I don't think that it'll be good, it's just been so long since I heard it. But that apparently is changing tonight. Apparently we are going to actually be able to listen to it for the first time in... How many months? Our guy says that he's already put so much work into it that he wants to get paid more than we originally bargained for. And I haven't even done my background vocals yet. And this was supposed to be the first mix... which means that he'll be putting a lot more work into it before it's ready for duplication. Oh well, sucks to be him!
Today I get to hang out with my good friend from Winnipeg. I know it seems crazy, but I have been looking forward to this for two years and it's all going to be over within a couple of hours. The looking forward will be better than the watching her go back from whence she came. I am not going to enjoy that at all. It's probably going to be worse this time around because I know the reality of how often I get to see her. Oh well, I will survive!! ( I wonder it that's from a French word having to do with Life or Vive. Is that how you spell life in French? This must be result of too much Agatha Christie. She always has French sayings in her books and I have no idea what they mean.)
I feel that I should end on a happy note. Will a "C" do the trick? Wow, am I hilarious or what?!

I gave up. I'm not as cool as Clarkie! Now for the awful news... I took Les Miserables back to the library. Woe is me! Reading the book was fine until it started going off on this rabbit trail about some other characters. I'm sure that I could have persevered but the history part was also beyond me. I think that perhaps I will try to read it again another day, when Autumn moves out of the house. I guess that I thought that I could read it in the midst of my ecstasy at being on holidays. Oh how wrong I was!! Go ahead and "booo" me. I'm ready. HA HA HA. HA!
I'm thumbing through the last couple of days of my life mentally to see if there was any thought or action of significance to write about. WOW! It's like a blank notebook in here (echo, echo, echo). As if you want to read one more, "I went to the gym today" episode or "I went to Starbucks yesterday" adventure. Cha' right! (Hee hee I'm laughing at myself! "Cha' right!")

Two days in a row. What's up with that? It's not as early today and I am thankful for that, but something has to be done with Sapphira's scratching at my door problem. That little jerk cat!
We had a fun time at our friends' house last night. We had the best dinner: steak, ceasar salad, brushetta... yummy! What's with me and always talking about food? I sound like a guy! Oh well, I guess that Ken has taught me an appreciation for such things.
One of the coolest things about last night was that their neighbour dropped by to give them a sample of her home-made cheese. She is origianally from Afganistan. She and her husband and children moved to Canada a little while ago and though they are exteremly educated, they work in a factory sorting through used clothing. Apparently, her husband is brilliant with numbers and math. They are still learning English and are doing a very good job of it.
Anyway, she was very nice and after conversing with us for only a short time, she asked if Ken and I would come to her house some time. We thought that was pretty cool. She was telling us that in Afganistan people take a very long time to become friends and then once they are friends, they never go back on their friendship. IT's quite different here in Canada aye?

Yeah sure ten to six on a Saturday morning is a good time to write in my blog. What else am I going to do? Everyone in the house is still sound asleep. Sapphira scratched at my bedroom door about fifteen minutes ago and though I tried and tried, I can't not get back to sleep. I hate being awake this early for no reason! I think that one of the worst things about being up this early is that I know that I will be tired in a few hours. It's so early in fact, my friend in Winnipeg isn't even up yet! What's the deal with that?

We went to out first Pho house yesterday for supper. Yum yum! It was very good. I suggest you get the #31. It comes with spring rolls and they make amazing spring rolls! Corena has been there once before so she has tried a couple of dishes and has given her approval to both. There were some pictures though that made us say, "hmmmm." One was the chicken pho; it looked like it had all of the parts of the chicken: heart, kidney, liver... and then there was this other red square thing that we couldn't identify (our best guess was cube of blood??) Anyway, the meals we had were all delicious! (Just remember to read the menu cafefully before ordering so as not to get tripe or something that we Westerners don't like.)
Last night was the first night that our family slept here alone. It was very quiet in the house and I have to admit that it made me jump every time there was a weird sound or crash. All of which, I'm sure, can be attributed to Sapphira. That makes me wonder how long it will take for me to adjust back to living with just us!... when we do move out which is not in the works at all. just in case anyone was wondering.
Here's a crappy poem that Ken/I made up before me moved to the coast:
Grass is Greener
big and wet
blue and green
lush and beautiful
stretching from horizon to horizon
oh, your magnificent power
you call to me and I come
A couple of months ago I read that and I couldn't believe what I was reading. We were joking around writing all these different poems on silly things just for fun and this was the last one that we wrote. We also named them after they were complete; we tried to name them something that didn't make any sense. However, when I read this now it is totally, dare I say, prophesying to us of moving to the coast. You might totally disagree with me but, in my favour, God does move in mysterious ways!!!

I guess that I am officially on holidays. Autumn has gone to Kamloops to visit my mom and dad for a couple of days. This is the first time that she has left home without one of us. Ken and I had to bite our lips when she was leaving with Uncle Mike. Not that we were going to cry but we didn't want to make a huge deal out of it and ruin her excitment.
On my first day of holidays I took my sweet time at the gym... it was my first day by myself anyway. Then I strolled over to Starbucks to get an iced latte. Yum yum! Went out for sushi. The crowning moment of my day was when I found The Three Amigoes on DVD at Future Shop!
This has been our date week. We've gone out for dinner and have gone to a few movies at the cheap theaters. On Sunday night we went to see the movie Bruce Almighty. It was funny and had a lot of truth in it. I recommend it for anyone who has a sense of humor about their Christianity and their relationship with God is based in reality! Last night we went and saw X2. I really like that one too. But not for any spiritual reasons.
Yesterday afternoon I spent reading at Starbucks and at the library. I finished A Love Worth Giving. I was getting a little mad at Max and the Holy Spirit because almost every page there was something that was just about moving me to tears. Argh! The one time I read in public and that's what happens!!!
After I finished that book (since I was at the library anyways) I signed out Les Miserables. When I first met Clarkie she was reading it and said that it was really good. I read less than thirty pages and was amazed... I've never read such a quoteable book in my whole life. There are such amazing revelations about God in it! I highly recommend it... granted, I've only read about fifty pages so far. Reading it more is on my list of things to do today! (Those are the kind of things that a mom can do on her holidays!!)
I wanted to say good bye in a different language but I don't know how to spell in different languages so ...
BYE BYE.

I went to the gym for the first time in months yesterday. I forgot my gym pants so I looked like a complete dork in my jeans! That's alright... what's pride for anyway?!
I'm locked in for the next two years (and after that my membership fee goes down, hurray!) so next time you see me I should look like an absolute babe, unless you are going to see me within the next couple of months, then I will just look the same as I do now... just with (hopefully) a little more energy. (I love purposeful run-on sentences! Just what my English teachers taught me not to do!)

Hey what did you do for Canada Day?
I spent Canada Day at a church in Burnaby with my fellow Bombers as well as the guys from Russ Rosen Band. The church served free hot dogs, smokies, watermelon and buttery corn-on-the-cob to the whole community. They also hosted a petting zoo, face-painting and all sorts of old-fashioned races for kids and adults alike. Not to metion some really great bands! ::wink wink::
Love Bomb got to play by default really. A few days ago Russ phoned up Ken and asked if he could fill in on the drums, then a day later asked if Matt could play bass for him as well. When both guys accepted Russ thought that it might just be a great idea to get Love Bomb to play as well.
Even though we had a lot of fun, we played through the crappiest sound system known to man! The monitors (there were only two of them) were homemade of a single four-inch speaker and a one-inch tweeter hooked up to a home stereo amp. My voice, at low levels, was driving the speakers so hard that there was some major distortion going on! For those of you who are not familiar with monitors, normally a monitor is equipped with a twelve to fifteen inch speaker. Big BIG difference!
On our song Shelter Derek uses a strings synth patch. We laughed to ourselves as we watched the little four-inch speaker vibrate so hard that it was just about hitting the mesh screen in front of it. Needless to say, the sound on stage was atrocious!! It was so bad that it was funny.
Here's my little disclaimer: that church had never hosted anything like this before so we were their guinea pigs and I think that overall, the day was a success.
