Melancholy Statement of the Day

Autumn told me today while standing at the bus stop, "Once I was so bored I played with a pole."
That makes me giggle!

ps. Tell Hannah that Autumn got her letter. It made her day. I'm going to encourage her to respond.

Discoveries of Nature

There's a raccoon living in our shed! Cole discovered it when he was getting the bikes out.

Well, that's all I had to say... Byeee!

Spirituality

I thought that this was interesting. What do you think?

Based on Scott Peck’s Four Stages of Spiritual Development
1. Chaotic/Antisocial Stage.

- Spirituality is egocentric, self-serving

2. Formal Institutional Stage.

- Come out of the chaos and need something to guide their life; want rules and principles to follow.
- Moved from insecurity to security
- Lots of form and very legalistic

3. Skeptic.

- Start asking questions – “Is this the only way to understand this?”
- Rational, objective, logical and reflective
- Not necessarily rejecting, but questioning
- Can find truth outside of Church and Bible as well

4. Mystical Communal.

- Realize not going to solve all questions
- Really searching for mystery of connectedness – unity
- Can be a lot more spontaneous
- Mature faith is like that of a child

Coffee Shop Thoughts

I was working yesterday. My usual Thursday morning shift at the coffee shop. We had all the usual customers; we've got tons of Regulars. That's what we call them. "Oh Robert?" "Yeah, he's a Regular." "Did he get his regular?" "Yeah, tiny coffee in the small mug." I secretly think that he does it because he always gets more for his money, especially when he comes back for his $.50 refill. I just cannot give him the tiny cup amount in that great big mug, so naturally he's figured it out. He never complains about anything though, so he's a great Regular to have around. You can forget his Hot and Spicy roll in the microwave and ten minutes later you remember and bring it out to him, he just thanks you the same as if you'd remembered nine minutes earlier. He doesn't care about having cream versus milk or dark roast instead of light. He just never complains. God bless his loyalty. He's the reason I have a job! Or one of them at least. There's a life lesson in here somewhere, I can just feel it!

A few hours into my shift one pair of elderly people came in. You could tell that the wife was the caretaker now in the relationship. He didn't talk much and he looked very feeble. He took some medications and coughed into a handkerchief. I felt so bad for him. When they ordered I couldn't help but think that they must feel they are being over-charged. Two small lattes and a couple of measly sandwiches and they were coming close to ten bucks. The prices must seem outrageous to them in comparison to what they were when they grew up. I found myself wondering if I was making the lattes too hot and hoping that they wouldn't burn there lips. Then I felt bad because I thought that they probably don't want to be treated like little kids. I mean, they've done the adult thing. It's so strange. I kept thinking the whole time they were there was, "Some day that's going to be me and Ken. We'll be old and our health will be failing. Most likely one of us will be taking on the caretaker roll to the other." It's kind of scary to think about it too much. I don't want to be feeble. I don't want to get old. I've never really thought about being old too much before and I've suddenly seen what gets others so freaked out.

Frig! I just don't want to waste the short time that I have. I want to live life to it's fullest... whatever that means. I'm having a hard enough time seeing my daughter turn seven. She's leaving Little Kid status behind. She's reading and writing and swimming on her own and going to friend's houses and getting involved in gymnastics. She's getting her own life. She's moving on to a new phase and, trust me, these phases just don't last long enough. (Except the Temper Tantrum stage which lasted waaaay toooo loooong! LOL)

I've Got a Moment

Wow, a spare moment to write on my blog! It's a miracle, miracle, yeah yeah!

I am now working four days at the coffee bar instead of three. It's still not full time, not even twenty hours but it's enough for me. When I started working I only wanted ten hours, so sixteen feels like enough. And the fourth day is only temporary - a month or so - just enough time to get used the extra few dollars. LOL

I don't know if you've heard though the grave-vine or not, but SSE is playing a slot at History Maker in Kamloops May long weekend. That should be fun. The guys are looking forward to it. And me? I'm going to the gym... I've got a "goal". That "goal" is to trim up as much as possible by May long weekend. (Such a girl!) Actually, that's what's been taking up a lot of my time. It's takes a long time to work out everyday. It's a big chuck of the time that Autumn's in school. But as Rita Springer sings, "It's gonna be worth it!" Although I doubt very much that she was singing about getting in shape!! LOL

Have you all checked out the new look of shesayelectric.com? It's looks pretty snazy! What do you think?

Well, see ya later...
