Fifty-nine Days and Counting

Until me and Bono are in the same room *sigh*.

I can't believe that they are going to be in Vancouver for a whole month! It would be amazing to see them on the street... not likely to happen to me since I'm not downtown Van much, but a cool notion none the less.

Church was good yesterday...

I can see the wind blow
Blowing through your hair
I can see the summertime in your eyes

I can see the fire
I can feel the flame
I can see the passion as it flows in your veins

I thought I heard you laughing
I think I hear you sing
I can see the life in you, it's rising

Where did all the hurt go?
Where did all the pain go?
Where did the winter go?
It's all melted away... and floated out of here

I wrote that in December when I realized that so much of the pain that I brought with me here was gone. It was all done. It only took two years - *smirk*! But it's good for it to be over anyway, no matter how long it takes.

Like a Sock to Your Pants

It's funny how childhood habits cling to a person like a sock to your pants because of static from the dryer.

I was in piano lessons as a adolescent, from age of nine until fourteen. I didn't progress much further than my third year. The last two years were pretty much a waste of money for my parents. I rarely practiced the allotted hour a day that was required. I showed up to every lesson completely unprepared. It was embarrassing, I admit. At the end of each lesson I vowed to myself that I would practice more this week - it never happened. I must have frustrated my teacher beyond reason, well except the one where she still collected payment.

My most vivid memories of piano lessons include showing up with long fingernails - every second week (they wouldn't grow fast enough for the next week). Mrs. McPherson would hear my tiny nails clicking on the keys within the first few minutes and gently hand me the clippers, waiting while I dealt with the situation.

The reason I mention that childhood habits cling even into adulthood is because I'm still guilty of these two things: 1) Making vows to myself that I will change this week with not much to show for all the vowing and 2) Approximately every two weeks I start practicing with the boys and a song in I'm asking Derek for his nail clippers (this occasionally happens right before a show as well!). You know the saying, "Old habits...."

Do you have any funny/annoying old habits that you just can't shake? Do tell!

Silliness, silliness is what I long for... (to the tune of Faithfulness - this is a long-standing traditional song in my family)

Yes... tonight is Gilmore Girls... the plot is thickening... you're lucky I didn't say "the clot is thickening" 'cause that's what was going through my head... Doh! With any luck, you'll have a squeamish stomach and, a-ha, my goal will be accomplished!

Oh yes... Gilmore Girls... I do believe that we left right after the moment when Lorelai told Emily, "You and me - we're done." One hour and counting...

I'm going to end this post by letting you know that I am going to depart in order that I may eat a 'booze chocolate' without getting it all over the keyboard. That wouldn't be so good. Sticky fingers + keyboard = (angry eyebrows) >:- (

Happy Anniversary... The Best is Yet to Come!

Friday was our church's 20th Anniversary. We had a big gathering... a few of the the old "big wigs" showed up to represent the past. I must say that the present day FLV and the past Langley Vineyard are very different places.

The best moment of the evening was right at the beginning... I suddenly realized that I was humming "More". If you don't see the significance behind that it's because you don't know where I was sitting - I was right behind Brian Doerksen. I had to laugh at myself. It's funny how you feel like an absolute idiot singing someone else's song when you're sitting within earshot.

KILLER BISCUITS...

Wanted for Attempted Murder!

A resident of San Diego, went to a nearby supermarket to pick up some groceries. Several people noticed her sitting in her car with the windows rolled up and with her eyes closed, with both hands behind the back of her head. One customer who had been at the store for a while became concerned and walked over to her car. He noticed that Linda's eyes were now open, and she looked very strange. He asked her if she was okay. Linda replied that she'd been shot in the back of the head, and had been holding her brains in for over an hour. The man called the paramedics, who broke into the car because the doors were locked and Linda refused to remove her hands from her head. When they finally got in, they found that Linda had a wad of bread dough on the back of her head. A Pillsbury biscuit canister had exploded from the heat, making a loud noise that sounded like a gunshot , and the wad of dough hit her in the back of her head. When she reached back to find out what it was, she felt the dough and thought it was her brains. She had initially passed out, but quickly re-covered and tried to hold her brains in for over an our until someone noticed and came to her aid.
