SSE Is On Their Way...
The band and families will be heading to the 'Loops this weekend. We are scheduled at History Maker for fifteen minutes on Saturday evening before Delirious, at the Kamloops Vineyard for their morning woship service (yay!) and another half hour at the park Sunday afternoon. Also, it looks like Leo Baggio from CIFM is going to give us a short on-the-phone interview Friday afternoon. So if any of you are around Kamloops May long, come down and give us a cheer! (And buy a t-shirt... we aren't allowed to sell them at HM, but we'll sell one to you out of the back of our van! We made them specfically for HM to offset our traveling cost and picked them up two days before we found out that we were'nt allowed to sell them there. Bummer.)

A Busy Two Weeks
Yikes! I can't even sit down to write in my blog to update ya'll on what's going on! I've tried writing this about four times already! Let's see if this time's the charm... but really I should be finishing my laundry and cleaning the tub... nevermind that... It'll still be there when I'm done this.
Two weeks ago Graham Cooke came to my church for an Un-conference. It was an Un-confrerence because there was no registration, very little advertising and even the bands were Un-plugged (mostly). The result - not a huge crowd which is kind of nice actually. The theme was community... I guess that's not a big crowd getter.
Anywho, we could only attend the Saturday evening that we were playing cause we had a gig downtown on the Friday night. Because it was unplugged and Matt couldn't learn the upright bass fast enough (smirk), it turned out to be just Ken, Derek and I leading worship. I sure missed Matt and the Electricity part of being an Electric band. That's not to say that it wasn't good... actually it was great. But, man, I can tell you that I don't love being the main one to hold the band together, that's not my style. And there was no place to 'go' with the music... when you're playing quiet or intense, it's virtually the same! LOL. I felt like I had to use my voice a lot more or a lot different than I usually have to.
Let me just say, that although Graham has made a pointed effort to come over and say hi to me when he's seen me, I didn't really grasp how much he cared about our band before that weekend. He had a lot a prophetic things to say about the band... we hadn't had that kind of thing yet as a band. We are going to get the stuff he said on CD which is a good thing because with prophecy it just seems to go in one ear and out the other. I'm not quite sure why that happens with me, normally I can recount almost verbatim the things that people tell me, but not when it comes to prophecy. Perhaps it's because it's a brand new thought. A revelation. The word of the Lord and I just don't have a previous grid to put it in. That was a tangent! Anyway, Graham really got the rest of the church really interested in us and what we are all about. (Which kind of annoyed Corena because she's been telling everyone about us the whole time! But that's people for ya as sad as it is.) Perhaps I'll update more about what Graham said after I get to listen to it again. (Or maybe not because it might come across weird and I don't want that.)
So yeah. We had a gig at the Lamplighter's downtown Van on a Friday night in front of a decent size crowd. That was cool. Except for a drunk guy decided to jump on Derek's gear. When we got on stage we found out very quickly just how much damage he had done. Needless to say, the guy made a beeline for the door when he too realize the damage. We were "this close" (fingers a millimeter apart) to not playing. But we did. The first song, Shelter, has never been played with so much agression and engery as it was that night. I felt completely distracted for the whole show... the stage, four feet off the floor, was about the size of a Mini Cooper and I had to stand sideways to fit somewhat in front of the drums. Though this wasn't our best show, the crowd didn't seem to notice the difference. Cause hey, they've never seen us before, they didn't realize that Thief has four verses not two repeated, that Home Silent Home doesn't have that big mistake going into the second verse!!! Lemme say that I'm glad that they all had something to drink before we got up there!!!! LOL
SO WEDNESDAY was up there with the best days of my life, only bettered by my wedding, birth of my child and THURSDAY. I was present, along with Jen M., at U2's video shoot of City of Blinding Lights!! How's that for dream come true? All alone in GM Place were The Boys and me... and 3,299 other people. But who's counting? I even got to go into the inner circle. (For those of you who don't know, there is a catwalk that comes out from the stage on both sides and meets in the middle about fifty feet out. Inside the circle fits a couple hundred people. Just like the heart during the Elevation Tour.) I was standing to the side right agains the railing. When they were setting us up a guy came by and told us that when Bono goes by we are not to grab him. We freaked. We were going to be close enough to touch him. "Not Grab Him? What did you say? As if we aren't going to!!" And maybe that's why Bono never came down off the stage. Shucks!! What a tease!
So when you see the video for City of Blinding Lights, look for me!
Thurdsday night was the big concert. Only U2, me, Ken and 19,998 other rabid fanatics. SWOON! We had a great veiw of all of them, well except maybe The Edge, he was on the other side of the stage the whole night, except for one song he came over to our side of the catwalk. It was funny when his guitar got stuck a little on the light curtian. I loved it when Mr. Clayton came out on the catwalk and played to us... there's a new special place for him in my heart. But it's definitely not the one that has already been occupied by the big B himself for many years already. Man... you don't want to hear me go on about that guy. And Larry Mullen Jr, you'd think that it was his first time on stage - he still seems shy about playin' it up to the fans. You were luckly if you got a wave. He must be happy to be stuck behind the drums. I know that they played for two full hours, but I'm telling you, it just wasn't long enough. The time flew by. I want to be one of those people who follow them around the globe, seeing every show in every country. I guess I'll have to settle for just being friends with them one day when our band makes it's mark. Sigh. (You knew that was coming!)
